Theatrical Outfit (2011)
What was once the first restaurant in Atlanta to desegregate is now home to Theatrical Outfit. Theatrical Outfit is an outstanding venue that is providing Atlanta with some of the most thought provoking productions available.
This past Tuesday, CityLights had the opportunity to get a personal, behind the scenes glimpse into the upcoming production of “Freud’s Last Session.” And on behalf of everyone who attended, you will be greatly disappointed to miss such a treasure right here in our backyard.
“Freud’s Last Session” was the longest running off Broadway play in the past year. And after seeing a glimpse of Andrew Benator’s portrayal of Lewis and David de Vries as Freud this play will stir the soul and evoke thoughtful conversation. And it is for those very reactions that Theatrical Outfit exists.
Executive Artistic Director, Tom Key, strives for plays that do just that. Theatrical Outfit maintains a deep appreciation for the history of the American South which resonates in the stories told to the their landmark location. The theater also works to construct a “safe and comfortable atmosphere for diverse audiences to reflect on, respond to, and connect through the stories told.”
I hope that if you were not able to join us on Tuesday this gives you a glimpse into one of Atlanta’s many treasures. “Freud’s Last Sessions” opens October 12th and runs through November 6th. For tickets call (678) 528-1500 or visit www.theatricaloutfit.com
